Autonomous feminist infrastructure
In reality, you should not have to create another heading for this part because a radical (in the sense of “roots”, “rooting”) and meaningful understanding necessarily implies the baggage and perspective of critical social struggles, including the contributions of the feminisms. But it is not like that. We are in the tower of Babel stepping on each other’s feet.
However, in countless techie communities, talking about gender, not even talking about bringing up the topic of feminisms, causes blank eyes. Adding the dimension of class and colonialism triggers short circuits. Other comrade projects address oppressed groups as a homogeneous whole, without highlighting specific power relations. Gender and feminism rarely appear in radical tech manifestos. Mailing lists and channels IRC they are just a way to generate discussion.
