HUMAN COMPUTERS

“HUMAN COMPUTERS is a project that investigates the relationships between computing and labor organisation.

The project is a media archaeology research that starts with the simulacra of a computing machine, the Mechanical Turk, by Von Kempelen, to the actual Mechanical Turk service opearted by Amazon, that provides workers that trains AI and machine learning softwares.

On a deeper layer, engaging the very origin of computing with the computation factory model conceived by Gaspard de Prony in 1793, the project tries to understand the bonds that tie together economics, labor division and computing.

Human Computers is a work by RYBN.ORG. With the cooperation of Marie Lechner for the research on the computers girls chapter.
Supported by PACT Zollverein and PAMAL (ESA Avignon).”
