“ANTIWARGAME is an online video game that explores the dynamics of the War on Terror in a simulation of post—9/11 politics. A player’s goal as the President of the United States of America is to maintain popularity while making decisions about military deployment, social spending, media spin, and other political factors. Striking the right balance is difficult: cutting social spending may trigger a revolution; shunning the all-powerful corporate class could lead to assassination. Although the game’s interface is cartoonish, its constraints expose the influence of special interests in policy making and push players to think through the various implications of managing the War on Terror.”
